Regulations of the 18th Inowrocław Modeling Competition

I. Purpose and Venue of the 18th Inowrocław Modeling Competition

1. Objectives and Tasks

To promote scale modeling among children, youth, and adults as a form of spending free time and developing manual skills and spatial imagination; to exchange experience between modelers and establish contacts with modeling clubs in Poland and abroad; to present models to the residents of the region and the city of Inowrocław; to promote the region and the city of Inowrocław.

5. As part of the 18th IKM, the following will be held:

  • Cardboard and Plastic Model Festival (hereinafter referred to as the Festival)

  • Cardboard and Plastic Model Competition (hereinafter referred to as the Competition)

  • Piotr Stempowski Memorial

6. SPECIAL CATEGORY – “SEAPLANES”

This category includes all airplanes and helicopters capable of landing and taking off from water surfaces.

7. Model Registration

Participation in the 18th IKM requires online registration via the form available at www.ismr.pl between 11 May 2026 (Monday) and 17 June 2026 (Wednesday).

On-site registration during the event is not possible.

Submitting a model constitutes acceptance of these regulations.
Participants deliver models to the venue at their own expense.

The organizer does not insure models or participants and does not provide meals or accommodation.

Failure to indicate an age category in the registration form will result in assignment to the Senior category. Registering a model in the wrong category will result in exclusion from evaluation.

8. Entry Fees

No entry fees will be charged.

3. Participation Rules (Festival)

  • Open to individual and club modelers from Poland and abroad.

  • Only self-built models are accepted.

  • Unlimited number of models per participant, but only one best model per class may receive distinction.

  • ISMR members may not participate.

  • Previously awarded Festival models may not compete again.

4. Evaluation (Festival)

Models will be judged by a panel appointed by the organizer.

Classes may be merged if participation is low.

Evaluation is based on overall impression (“like/dislike”) considering:

  • Precision

  • Painting quality

  • Work effort

  • Overall impression and symmetry

Three equal distinctions will be awarded per class.


III. Cardboard and Plastic Model Competition

1. Competition Classes (no age division)

2. Participation Rules

  • Open format.

  • Self-built models only.

  • Maximum two models per participant.

  • Minimum 3 models from 3 different modelers required per class.

  • First 10 registered models per category will be accepted.

  • Previously awarded Competition models cannot be re-entered.

Base material must be cardboard (cardboard classes) or plastic (plastic classes). Other materials (resin, metal, wood, etc.) allowed as supplementary.

Documentation is mandatory.


3. Judging – Cardboard Models

Points awarded for:

  • Complexity – up to 15 pts

  • Geometry – up to 20 pts

  • Fit of parts – up to 10 pts

  • Surface quality – up to 10 pts

  • Edge retouching (color & completeness) – up to 10 pts

  • Clean workmanship – up to 10 pts

  • Non-cardboard elements (quality & painting) – up to 15 pts

  • Additional elements beyond instructions – up to 10 pts

  • Painted models: paint quality & weathering – up to 20 pts

Documentation must include:

  • Building instructions (mandatory for commercial kits)

  • Plans (mandatory for scratch builds)

  • Construction stage documentation

  • List of additional elements

  • Color references

  • Weathering documentation

Paper documentation required.


Judging – Plastic Models

Points awarded for:

  • Difficulty – up to 5 pts

  • Geometry & precision – up to 5 pts

  • Scratch-built elements – up to 12 pts

  • Resin/photo-etch/turned parts integration – up to 7 pts

  • Interior detailing – up to 10 pts

  • Engine detailing – up to 12 pts

  • Undercarriage – up to 8 pts

  • External equipment & armament – up to 10 pts

  • Painting accuracy – up to 17 pts

  • Paint & decal quality – up to 4 pts

  • Documented weathering – up to 10 pts

Full documentation required in paper form.


IV. SPECIAL CATEGORY – “SEAPLANES”

All aircraft and helicopters capable of operating from water.


V. Piotr Stempowski Memorial

Open to ship models at least 100 cm in length (“From one meter and up”).

Participation requires marking the appropriate box in the entry form.

Judges may exceptionally award a model shorter than 100 cm.


VI. Final Provisions

1. Special Awards

  • GRAND PRIX – Plastic Senior

  • GRAND PRIX – Plastic Junior

  • GRAND PRIX – Cardboard Senior

  • GRAND PRIX – Cardboard Junior

  • Special Category – “Seaplanes”

Special prizes may also be awarded by local authorities, institutions, associations, and sponsors.

2. Judging

  • Judges appointed by Organizer and Chief Judge.

  • Decisions are final.

  • Transparent judging process.

  • Misconduct may result in disqualification.
